Moementum founder Moe Carrick describes what she does simply: help people do their best work. Moe has a rich background of Fortune 100 consulting, academic and institutional learning, keynote addresses, authorship, strategic partnering, and masterful facilitation. She grounds her approach in a unifying and undeniable truth: successful work is dependent upon human relationships. Moe’s varied contributions to people and organizations have consistently stimulated positive ripple effects with direct and favorable impact to the bottom line.
Having worked for many years in the outdoor education arena as an instructor for Outward Bound and the National Outdoor Leadership school, she continues to bring adventure into her client engagements in big and small ways. Moe received her Master’s Degree in Organizational Management and feels privileged to work with clients such as Nintendo of America, Prudential Financial, REI, Nike, The Nature Conservancy, Tech Soft 3D and many others.
Moe is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator, a highly-experiential methodology based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. Moe is also a Certified Coach, an authorized distributor for the Wiley Suite of products (DiSC, Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team, Leadership Practices Inventory) a Certified Benchmarks Facilitator with the Center for Creative Leadership, and a standing member of the Denison Culture Roundtable.
Moe enjoys both traveling the world and being outside in her home town of Central Oregon: running, riding horses, working in the garden, or just strolling.

Becky takes on everyday the unenviable job of wrangling Moe and Jim, and the Staff Associates, into organized processes and events. She has a unique gift for staying un-flappable amidst many flying objects, and is always a ready problem-solver for client needs and concerns.
Web & Organizational Assistant Contact Ian Carrick
Ian is grateful to work part-time for Moementum. He longs to let his imagination run wild with the vision of a world where everyone actually loved their job. He supports Moementum Principal (and his mother), Moe by helping keep web content up to date, distributing surveys, posting blogs, designing some graphics and otherwise helping us stay organized.
In his free time Ian writes and sings original songs, practices growing his skills as a farmer, leads oral tradition singing, spends time with loved ones and has an at-times consuming habit for fermenting vegetables.
James focuses on advancing operational effectiveness by linking the domains of project excellence, continuous improvement, and organizational development. He teaches Strategic Project Management as an adjunct for the College of Business Administration at Oregon State University. James is the current Chair of HiDEC, an economic development initiative to foster growth in Central Oregon companies. The firm represents over 4200 employees across multiple sectors.
James approaches facilitation, teaching, and consulting with patience, curiosity and the assumption that the first step in improvement is to fully leverage existing people and resources. James’ career launched with successful technical operations and project management appointments yielding steep growth and change trajectories. Most recently, James was in charge of Strategic Projects for Bend Broadband, now TDS, where he served as a Senior Project Manager for the integration of the two companies. Prior experience includes developing and leading extensive business information management and operational improvement initiatives. Northwest companies include: Kadlec Health Systems, Providence Health & Services, Tri-Met.
He holds an MS in Management from Texas A&M University, post-baccalaureate award in Business Administration from UCLA and a BA in Computer Sciences from Thomas Edison State University. He is Project Management Professional and a member of the International Society of Performance Improvement.
A veteran and former Marine, he and his wife strive to advance veteran’s healthcare initiatives locally, at the state and national levels.
An experienced and published educator in a variety of markets, Jane brings to Moementum an incredible array of program design and development skills. She is particularly fluent in making learning dynamic, engaging, and relevant to the workplace. While at Harvard University earning her master's degree, Jane studied learning theory and she applies brain-based learning and learning styles to her consulting work. Her design and facilitation skills are top line, best in class.
Jane also applies her understanding of the learning process to her work with small teams engaged in intensive work. Jane's energy is contagious and motivating to those she works with...it helps them reach for new learning, and keeps people intent and present in the session.
Lu specializes in all things “people related.” Her sage wisdom is key in creatively evaluating and designing HR support structures and processes to meet an organization's strategic objectives in areas such as talent management, compensation, employee relations, executive development, employee engagement and workplace culture. She brings strategy and focus to human resources functions, and also coaches HR staff as they grow and develop in their key roles.
With over 15 years in HR leadership roles at Patagonia, Inc., the outdoor apparel designer renowned for its unique policies and practices for employees, Lu leverages her experiences guiding Patagonia's corporate culture to benefit the growth and development of businesses committed to attracting and retaining top talent in order to meet their overall objectives. A certified executive and career coach, Lu has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's in Organizational Management.

Jim is passionate about helping companies understand and leverage their impact for the greater good. He is a student, coach, consultant, provocateur and facilitator in the disciplines of leadership, culture, strategy and systemic change. Having worked in leadership roles in private, public and non-profit organizations and businesses, Jim’s clients appreciate the depth and diversity of his experience along with his clarity and honesty.
Jim’s career roots are in experiential and adventure based learning. He has held leadership positions at the Santa Fe Mountain Center, Outward Bound and Pecos River/Aon Consulting. Whenever possible, Jim still loves to incorporate adventure and experience into his work with clients through Moementum’s designed facilitation practice or when he leads workshop and classroom sessions. Jim has had the privilege to work with a diverse roster of clients including World’s Finest Chocolate, Balfour Beatty Construction, Herman Miller, IDEO and BRAC International.
Jim describes himself mostly as a learner and - different than being a "teacher" - as a facilitator of learning. His book, The Five Insights of Enduring Leaders combines stories and ideas on the universal traits leaders everywhere need to develop. Jim defines his greatest learning challenge as better understanding himself.

Lori King holds an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a BA in Journalism from Iowa State University. Ms. King has over 15 years of experience in technical marketing and writing/editing for high tech companies, including MapR Technologies, Silver Spring Networks, Apple, OpenWave, NeXT Computer, and SGI. She has been an active volunteer in the Bend community with organizations such as the Cascade School of Music, TEDxBend, BendFilm and Cascades Academy. She enjoys water skiing, snow skiing, tilt shift photography, and playing endless German-style board games with her two teen boys. She is also the self-described “Scrabble Champion” of her neighborhood cul de sac. Lori helps set and develop Moementum’s social media strategy in addition to providing sound overall marketing advice. We are honored to have her as a member of our Advisory Board.
JoAnna Abrams is Founder & CEO of MindClick, a leader in supply chain sustainability performance measurement solutions for global organizations. MindClick’s technology and consulting services are used by global organizations to implement responsible sourcing programs to help achieve their environmental, social responsibility, and business goals. Named a hospitality industry innovator by Lodging Magazine, JoAnna combines 8 years of sustainability experience with twenty years of business strategy, research, and brand management work for global leaders in consumer products.
JoAnna’s knowledge and experience as an entrepreneur and sustainability professional make her an invaluable asset to the Advisory Board. Prior to the founding of MindClick, JoAnna led strategy, research, and new product development efforts for recognized consumer products brands including MGM, Nestle, Pepsi-Co, Toyota, and Wolfgang Puck. JoAnna holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in finance from University of Illinois.
President, Jesse Engineering
Jeff Gellert is the president of Jesse Engineering, a full service steel fabrication and construction manufacturer based in Tacoma, WA serving aerospace, marine, public infrastructure bridge/highway, machinery and shipping customers. Jesse builds a variety of projects, from heavy steel bridge girders to sophisticated radar antennas. They specialize in challenging projects and have served customers all over the world.
Jeff and Moe have worked together for over 10 years primarily through work with Jeff and his management team. In his spare time, Jeff is an accomplished whitewater paddler and most recently a doryman, having built his own dory and rowed whitewater rivers across the US including the Salmon and the Grand Canyon of the Colorado.
Owner, Chris Cox Consulting
Chris Cox is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and the owner of two small counseling practices located in Chico and Susanville California. As a member of the Moementum Advisory Board, Chris’ clinical expertise and knowledge of facilitated experiential learning helps Moementum as we design and deliver products, programs and events for clients. Prior to private practice, Chris has worked in a variety of settings including Child Welfare, Outward Bound, Pecos River/Aon Consulting, one world learning, Ropes Course Adventure and Parks and Recreation.
General Manager, Blommer Chocolate Co. of Canada
Doug Harper and Jim began working together 18 years ago at Interface, Inc. His extensive experience with Moementum’s approach, philosophy and brand coupled with his experience in manufacturing are valuable assets to the Momentum Advisory Board. Doug is a management professional with over thirty years of diversified and progressive experience in a variety of fast-paced and demanding operational and manufacturing roles. He is particularly effective in implementing goal-oriented, strategic approaches designed to improve morale and create incremental performance improvement.
Skilled in the development of leadership at all levels of an organization through the use of mentoring and participatory management, Doug is a specialist in changing operational “cultures” through the use of common sense people management and empowerment. His specialties include: culture change, leadership development, team-building, strategic planning, coaching/ mentoring, metrics implementation, and sustainable performance improvement. Doug spent many years playing and coaching ice hockey and now that he and his wife Ann are empty-nesters they enjoy spending their spare time travelling Europe with an emphasis on UK destinations.

Ron Fritz is Co-Founder and CEO of Tech Soft 3D, founded in 1996, a company singularly focused on helping software development teams succeed by leveraging their technology and expertise. The impressive list of Techsoft customers includes Alibre, Autodesk, Bentley, Fluent, IronCAD, MSCSoftware, PTC, SolidWorks and TransMagic. Headquartered here in Bend, OR, TechSoft has 4 additional global offices: Berkley, CA; Staveley, UK; Lyon, France and; Yokohama, Japan.
Ron is a graduate of Cornell University and lives in Bend with his wife, Laura and their three children. Ron is an avid runner, soccer fan and dedicated coach who usually finds a way to make it to World Cup events. TechSoft retained Moementum’s services beginning in 2010 as Ron made a concerted effort to scale the company.
CFO, Alston Construction
Adam Nickerson is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Alston Construction, a $700m privately-held, national, design/build general contractor that specializes in the building of warehouse and distribution centers. During his career, Adam has gained significant experience in leading both large and mid-sized construction companies through periods of fast paced growth and has extensive knowledge in managing enterprise risk and developing successful leadership teams. During his career, he has developed a specialty in the dynamics of family-owned businesses and leading companies, both strategically and operationally, through periods of growth and restructuring.
Jim met Adam when Adam was the CFO of Winter Park Construction (a large, regional commercial construction company in Florida). Adam provides keen financial acumen and first hand experience as a former client in the construction industry to our Advisory Board. Adam earned his accounting degree from Rollins College and is a Certified Public Accountant. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Brandi and their two daughters and son. While not chauffeuring his children around town to their numerous activities, he enjoys playing soccer and tennis and coaching his children in their sporting activities.
Principal, MindPower Resources
Katie Kilty, Ed.D. is the principal of MindPower Resources, providing consulting and performance counseling for individuals and organizations in the sports and corporate spaces. She is an Associate Professor of Sport Management at Endicott College and Adjunct Faculty in Physical Education, Health and Coaching at Boston University. She holds a doctoral degree in Counseling and Developmental Studies with a specialty in Performance Psychology from Boston University.
Katie has devoted more than 20 years to developing, implementing and researching experiential curricula specifically designed to stimulate sustained behavioral change. She has worked with more than 3000 professionals to improve their performance through one-on-one consulting and delivery of over 600 specialized seminars. Focusing on all human dimensions affecting performance, she motivates clients to understand and overcome mental blocks and barriers to success. Katie has worked with several Olympic teams in the United States and internationally. She has published a number of articles and a book titled Creating Healthy Habits: An Adventure Guide to Teaching Health and Wellness. Her work with multicultural awareness was featured on The Teen Files: The Truth About Hate. Katie was an invited speaker at the United Nation’s International Year of Sport and Physical Education conference on Effecting Social Change Through Women’s Leadership in Sport.
Moe and Katie worked together at Project Adventure and her strong background in experiential learning and performance coaching is a real asset to Moementum’s advisory board. Katie attended Moementum’s Juggler’s Dilemma workshop based on the content of The Daring Way™ in November of 2014 and is currently pursuing her own certification as a Daring Way™ facilitator.
